2 Halves Region / system / unpaired organ presented in two halves.
The brain is the originator, processor, and controller of numerous body functions including movement, sensation, communication, mood, emotion, memory, homeostasis, and decision making. It consists of the cerebrum, brainstem, and cerebellum, and together with the spinal cord forms the central nervous system. This Silicone Plastinate reveals the external structure of the cerebrum, brainstem, and cerebellum, including the origin of most cranial nerves. A midline sagittal cut provides complementary median sagittal views of the left and right sides of the brain and its ventricles, and a deep dissection on one side reveals the insula and branching of the middle cerebral artery.
