Brainstem & cranial nerves

Product code: HP1204

  • Whole Whole region / system / unpaired organ.

The brainstem interconnects the cerebrum, cerebellum, and spinal cord, via numerous tracts. It also contains multiple groups of nuclei associated with cardiac, respiratory, parasympathetic, and motor functions, consciousness, and most functions of the cranial nerves. This Silicone Plastinate reveals the structure, relations and various connections and tracts of the brainstem. The origin of most cranial nerves is revealed, alongside the fourth ventricle.

  • Uninterrupted 360° views

  • Human tissue with unique ID

  • Full aftersales support

Key features include

  • External features of the brainstem including its three main parts (midbrain, pons, medulla oblongata), cerebral peduncles, interpeduncular fossa, and pyramids of the medulla oblongata.
  • Cerebellum removed to reveal the cerebellar peduncles, fourth ventricle, superior colliculus, inferior colliculus, pineal gland, and cuneate and gracile tubercles and fasciculi.
  • Origin and proximal parts of the cranial nerves (most), including the posterior brainstem origin of the trochlear nerve (CN IV).
