The central and peripheral nervous systems function as a cohesive whole to monitor, modulate, and control all body functions. The connections and continuity between these nervous systems, their topographical layout and relationship with surrounding structures are normally difficult to visualise. This Silicone Plastinate uniquely reveals the morphology, orientation, and connections between the central and peripheral nervous systems, in relation to the axial skeleton. The brain, cranial nerves (most), spinal cord, spinal nerves, and major plexuses are revealed, alongside the structure of the thoracic and abdominal walls and the deep muscles of the back.

Typical Features
General
- Cerebrum, brainstem, spinal cord and spinal nerves (cerebellum not visible).
- Brachial and lumbosacral plexuses.
- Base of cranium (part), vertebral column (part), pelvis and parts of the thoracic and abdominal walls.
Cranium & Brain
- Most of cranium removed (parts of temporal and occipital bones remain) to reveal the cerebrum and brainstem with arachnoid removed.
- External features of the cerebrum including its hemispheres, lobes, lobules, fissures, sulci, and gyri.
- Olfactory bulb and tract.
- Optic chiasm and its relationship with the pituitary gland, and optic nerves.
- External features of the anterior pons and medulla oblongata, including the pyramids and olives.
