Larynx
Product code: HP1406
-
Whole Whole region / system / unpaired organ.
The larynx primarily functions to protect the tracheobronchial tree from the aspiration of solids or liquids by acting as a valve at its entrance. Alongside this critical function, the larynx is involved in phonation, and assists in the generation of the increased intrathoracic and intraabdominal pressure (Valsalva manoeuvre) required for airway clearance, defecation, micturition, vomiting and childbirth. This Silicone Plastinate reveals the cartilages, bone, and the interconnecting membranes of the larynx. The position and attachments of various laryngeal muscles can be visualised and explored, thereby simplifying determination of their function.
