Lungs, main bronchi & trachea (smoker; expiration)

Product code: HP1402

  • Whole Whole region / system / unpaired organ.

The lungs primarily function as gas exchange units during respiration, but they also have non-respiratory functions which include various metabolic and immune roles, the filtration and lysis of venous emboli, and acting as a vascular reservoir and a site for platelet production. This Silicone Plastinate provides comprehensive views of the surfaces, borders, lobes, and hila of the lungs. The impressions of the mediastinal organs and thoracic wall and the gross effects of smoking are easily identified and explored. The lungs are presented in expiration, providing an ideal comparison to lungs presented in inspiration.
